What happened on
previous holidays?

SUMMER 2009
Summer 2009 proved to be a record breaking summer with more children
than ever attending. We also had an excellent upgrade from our
Ofsted inspection raising us from satisfactory to good.
Despite the poor summer the children had some great fun and
enjoyment. This included 3 day trips with 35 Children going to Hoo
Farm, a full coach of 56 going to Cadbury's World and a nearly full
coach visiting the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm and the Candle Factory.
During July we had visits by the Prees Fire Service, where the
children had fun climbing over the fire engine including
setting off the siren, and the RAF in their helicopter which the
children were able to explore. There were several new activities
including our camping day and the teddy bears picnic. Due to the
poor weather some of the activities had to be done indoors but this
did not spoil the children's enjoyment or dampen their enthusiasm.
Next year we would like just a little more sunshine and less
rain.
HALF TERM OCTOBER 2010

Once again the October half term was very well attended with over 40
children joining us on some days carrying out a great variety of
activities. The final highlight of the holiday was the Halloween
party where the Children all made their own pumpkin faces and
dressed up in their scary Halloween clothes. A small sample of the
the Children's efforts can be seen in the picture.
CHRISTMAS 2008
The Christmas holiday activities were enjoyed by everyone and
included Christmas card making, mince pie making, making decorations
and decorating the sports hall. There were also some of the more
active things like multi sports and games. This was all rounded off
by the bumper Christmas eve party where we played several party
games including hunt the Christmas pudding, had a disco and party
food followed by a special visit from Santa Claus
OCTOBER 2008 HALF TERM
The October Holidays were
once again well attended – closing the week with a busy Friday due
to lots of
Halloween Fun!
Throughout the week more than 35 children passed through the doors
to take part in a wide variety of activities including: face
painting, treasure hunt, volley ball, arts and crafts, football,
making Halloween decorations, tag rugby and many more.
On the Tuesday we even had an hour of snow so that we they were able
to have fun playing snowballs.
Friday was an action
packed day attended by 35 children who dressed up in Halloween
costumes as did all the staff. The children brought in their specially carved out pumpkins
and there was a prize for the best carved and also the biggest
pumpkin, this was judged by John and Margaret. They also did their
own face painting, cooking and played hunt the spider.
The holidays were covered
by the local press. We had several photos in the Whitchurch Herald .
We also opened for the
first time on a school PD day – which was well attended for the
first one. We will now be open each PD day giving parents the chance
to leave their children with us whilst they return back to work for
the week.
SUMMER HOLIDAYS 2008
Our
summer
holidays at the Club saw 6 action packed weeks of summer fun with
more than 80 individuals attending over the period.
As
well as our usual action packed days of sports, arts & crafts, multi
activities, cooking, face painting etc we also made 3 special day
trips. A day trip to Shrewsbury for a session of 10 pin bowling and
a visit to the cinema. We saw 'Kung Fu Panda' which was
thoroughly enjoyed by all the staff as well as the children.
We visited Anfield, home of Liverpool Football club, where 30
excited children were treated to a tour of the stadium, including
changing rooms, and players tunnel. We also went Chester Zoo where the children
had a great day seeing all the animals, many for the first time,
including a ride in the anti poaching land rover
We had special visitors coming into the club which included
a visit from Prees Fire Service who came down to the Club in the Fire
Engine to give a Fire Safety talk. We had a look around the engine with the
children also getting involved by having a go each with the fire
hose and then getting kitted out in the full fireman's outfit too.
We also had a visit from Andy- a vet from the Leonard Brothers vets
practice in Whitchurch. Andy gave the children a talk on how to care
for their pets and the children also asked a string of questions
they had previously prepared to do with their own pets and his job.
The summer came to a close with a presentation evening and BBQ.
Special awards were made to the following children:
Alex and Lauren Cadman, who were both new to the club, for settling
in so well, excellent sportsmanship, politeness and good manners.
Luke Grocott won the award for the "most appearances". He attended
the club on more occasions than anybody else this holiday.
Lewis Jones 12 won "Sportsman of the summer" award. Lewis always
joined in every sport, always encouraging others, never complaining
and always smiling. Well done Lewis
